A Police Officer by name Cpl. Wisdom Akagbo of the Abuakwa Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) on Friday, October 25, in a professional and what could be described as a hilarious fashion sent a driver who was en route to Sunyani back to Kumasi after the driver flouted some traffic regulations. Mypurefmonline.com reports.
The Police Officer who was on patrol duties on the main Kumasi-Sunyani highway asked the driver who couldn’t stand the mounting traffic between the Abuakwa and Apatrapa stretch, overtaking the vehicles to return back to Kumasi without any excuse.
‘Team Pure’ which was headed towards Sunyani observed the happenings from behind as there was an almost thirty minutes stand off between the Officer and the traffic offender.
The driver tried to talk his way through and subsequently tried to bribe the Officer with some unidentifiable amounts of GHC50 notes which the Police Officer rejected with a stern face and insisted the offender does the right thing.
“The honorable act of Cpl. Wisdom Akagbo is one that deserves massive commendation as it resonates hope that our Police institution isn’t corrupt and bad as it looks. There are still good Police personnel out there.” An observer of the events remarked.
In a 2019 Global Corruption Barometer survey report released by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) early this year, the Police administration was viewed as one of the most corrupt institutions in the country as noted by 64% of the Ghanaian respondents.
The honorable act of Cpl. Wisdom Akagbo comes to dissuade this assertion as clearly, there are many Police personnel out there, insisting the right things are done in the country.
Mypurefmonline.com commends Cpl. Wisdom Akagbo and urges him on to continue serving the Country in diligence and integrity.
