A lot of us grew up to understand the fact that Reggie Rockstone is the originator of the popular Ghanaian genre Hiplife, which earned him the title ‘Hiplife Grandpapa‘.

Though this might be a popular subject of discussion, it also turns out to be one of the hottest debates in Ghanaian music history.

Clearing the air on this matter, Reggie Rocktone in an exclsuive interview with Hammer on Hammer Time attested to the fact that he didn’t create rap and neither was he the first to rap in Ghana, but he was the first to put identity to rap in Ghana and coined the term ‘Hiplife’ hence making it a Ghanaian thing.

He explained this saying ”There’s no child or adult in this world who doesn’t know I created Hiplife. I coined the term Hiplife and I didn’t create rap. I think Panji must have had it twisted up a little bit, whenever the arguement comes up, they mention the term HipLife but who created the term?
