PETITION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE
On behalf of the two Paramouncies (2) in Kintampo, we the undersigned Chiefs respectfully submit this petition to your high Office for the reappointment of the incumbent Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe for the following reasons: 1. The Kintampo North Municipality has two Paramouncies (2). They are: the Mo/Deg Traditional Council and the Nkoranza Traditional Council, and with Nana Fanyinamah (III) who serves as the Zongo Chief of Kintampo and Traditional head of all the Settler Groups in the Kintampo North Municipality.
In recognition and honour of these two Paramouncies, subsequent governments have had it as a traditional antecedence by appointing Municipal Chief Executives who are aligned to both Paramouncies in order to foster the spirit of inclusiveness and popular patronage. The incumbent Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe, is a unique personality who traces his paternal lineage to Nkoranza; his maternal lineage to Mo/Dega; and was born, bread, grew and lived in Kintampo Zongo throughout his formative years. As a result, the incumbent MCE is a unique individual who deeply understands the cultures, traditions, norms, languages and psyche of the three different fraternities indicated above.2. Conscious of and consistent with the fact that the successes of government are birthed by the efforts of its appointees in close collaboration with Traditional Authorities, the incumbent MCE, during his first term, has fostered a strong sense of unity, recognition, peaceful coexistence and respect for the Chieftaincy Institution in Kintampo.
A case in point has been the protracted conflict at Portor, a farming community in the Kintampo North Municipality which took a heavy toll on the finances of the Municipal Assembly, leaving the then political leadership with no option than to expend judicious financial resources which would have otherwise been channeled into critical developmental projects in the Municipality. Upon assumption of office in 2017, the incumbent MCE brought his ingenuity and dexterity to bear in managing and resolving the said conflict. Today, Portor and its environs now enjoy lasting peace, and this singular effort has eased government’s burden of committing its scarce financial resources to maintaining the peace. 3. Uncharacteristic of most first term MCEs, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe has distinguished himself creditably in the area of massive infrastructural development. Every sector of the Municipality has had a touch in one form or the other of the MCE’s novel infrastructural interventions in sectors such as Education, Justice and Security, Health, Agriculture, Water and Sanitation, Employment and Roads. Mention can be made of some outstanding strategic infrastructure like the Court Complex which happens to be one of its kind in the Bono East Region in particular and the nation at large. That project is earmarked to be commissioned by His Excellency, the President who is scheduled for his thank you tour of the Bono East Region. Again, the KintampoWaterfalls which has been reengineered and renovated to incorporate a canopy walkway and zipline were all executed in the first term of Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe. In addition to the above projects, a new Girls’ Model School is under construction in the Kintampo township.
4. The Chieftaincy Institution in Kintampo bears ample witness to the promptness and integrity with which this government continues to redeem its pledges and campaign promises so far. As a result, the two Paramouncies in Kintampo, with the full support of Nana Fanyinamah (III) and his subjects are of the view that in order for the President to succeed in his second term and thereby break the 8-year jinx, the President shouldrespectfully reappoint an experienced, obedient, appealing, courageous and dexterous personality like Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe who began with the President and has had deep knowledge of the dynamics, workings and challenges of the Kintampo North Municipality.
In conclusion, we the undersigned Chiefs, on behalf of the Mo/Deg Traditional Council, Nkoranza Traditional Council, Nana Fanyinamah (III) and the Settler Groups herby petition H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reappoint the incumbent Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe to serve coterminously with the President in the second term of his administration.
We count on your usual cooperation.
